February 15th, 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Workshop: "Speaking the Truth in Love: Uncovering Blocks to Rigorous Honesty"
Registration: 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Lecture: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Lunch: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. (boxed lunch provided)
Lecture: 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Synopsis: This lecture will focus on techniques to uncover blocks to "rigorous honesty," which is based on the premise that dishonesty often comes from disowned and disliked parts of the self that are repressed and unconscious. Dishonesty and distortion result from these unresolved wounds, as do defenses that cloud awareness and distort the ways individuals see and communicate with others.John will discuss ways to raise one's awareness in communicating honestly with others. The more that individuals can love themselves unconditionally, the more they can love others and engage in honest communication.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
-
Practice shame-based shadow work, which reveals how shame lies in hiding and contaminates their integrity.
-
Examine family dynamics – including abandonment, neglect, abuse, and enmeshment – in order to identify their major wounds.
-
Understand how primary wounds become unconscious and distort their behavior

Friday, April 4th, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Lecture: "The History of the Family"
Synopsis: Using the work of the brilliant historian, Stephanie Koonz, John will explore the myth of the traditional American family. He will show how families have always adapted to the economic circumstances in which they had to survive. Since the end of World War II, several human rights movements have paved the way for "deep democracy." Deep democracy is more directly participatory and demands absolute equality and freedom for all human beings. This new environment creates a context where old-fashioned "virtue" is the condition of success. John will describe a new understanding of a fully-functioning marriage and outline the following day's workshop, which will focus on raising morally virtuous children for the future.

Be A Better Listener
The lack of emotional and social intelligences lies at the core of all emotional disorders—especially addictions. Addicts tend to either be co-dependently enmeshed with others or isolated and anti-social. Addicts tend to hide and mood-alter their toxically shamed feelings and have trouble with intimacy and conflict, often becoming reactively angry (rageful) in order to gain distance and protect themselves.
Workshop Goals:
Participants in the workshop will be involved in a series of (experiential) exercises that can help develop emotional intelligence through:
Workshop participants will also be given a model for effective and honest communication, ways to enhance intimacy and create desirable relationships, and experimentation with styles of leadership.
Part of the material utilized in the workshop is contained within John Bradshaw’s latest book to be released in Spring 2008.
This lecture will focus on techniques to uncover blocks to "rigorous honesty," which is based on the premise that dishonesty often comes from disowned and disliked parts of the self that are repressed and unconscious. Dishonesty and distortion result from these unresolved wounds, as do defenses that cloud awareness and distort the ways individuals see and communicate with others.

Sunday, June 22nd, 10:30 a.m.
Celebration Sunday Service
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Lecture: "The Love That is Unity"
Synopsis: We are having a special service on June 22, 2008 to celebrate and dedicate our church. A light luncheon will be served after the service.
Friday, June 27th, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Lecture: “Speaking the Truth In Love”
Synopsis: This evening will be devoted to an overview outlining the two dominant unconscious blocks to rigorous honesty and how they distort intimacy and love. Living in a rigorously honest way is a difficult task. It must be done by becoming honest with oneself because no one can be more honest with others than one can with his or her self. You can achieve this personal self-honesty!
There are two major blocks to personal honesty and they are both partially unconscious. Sometimes we have been living in a defensive false self for so long these blocks are completely unconscious. There are ways that we can become conscious of them if we are willing. When we are able to speak the truth (i.e. the truth of ourselves), we can love in an unconditional way and receive the love of others.
Saturday, June 28th, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Hour Break for Lunch on your own – map of nearby restaurants/fast food supplied)
Workshop: "Speaking the Truth in Love: Uncovering Blocks to Rigorous Honesty"
Synopsis: John will lead participants through a workshop guiding you through several ways to help you become more rigorously honest. In the morning, he will help you look at areas of toxic shame, which interlock and form what is called your Shadow Personality. You will have the opportunity to inventory wounds from your family of origin and childhood in the afternoon. Their non-resolution keep you imprisoned in the past, contaminating your current life. New freedom, honesty and love can be yours by doing this important work! |

Knowledge in the Neighborhood: Partners to Healthy Communities
Monday, August 25th, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Keynote Address: "The Critical Role of Embracing Healthy Shame in Healing Addictive Disorders"
Synopsis: In this Keynote address, John Bradshaw will outline the two forces of the affect shame: HDL or Healthy Shame and LDL or Toxic Shame. Since addictive disorders involve moral and spiritual bankruptcy, addicts must be restored to their healthy shame, which is the ground of guilt as “moral shame.” Because real harm has been done to themselves and others, there is need for a searching of their moral inventory and a sincere attempt to make amends before recovering addicts can be restored to their self worth. Taking addicts from meta shame to their most sound core shame is the way for true sobriety (second order change) to be established.
